A two-day training workshop on integrating Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) into local development planning was held by the Nexus Project in collaboration with Chagunarayan Municipality on June 28-29, 2024. The workshop aimed to strengthen the skills and knowledge of local government officials and elected representatives, helping them better plan and act to reduce disaster and climate-related risks in their communities.
The training focused on bringing DRR and climate change adaptation efforts together in a coordinated way. Participants discussed topics such as understanding emerging risks, building resilience, reviewing current practices, identifying challenges, and exploring locally appropriate solutions to address climate and disaster threats.
The Mayor of Chagunarayan highlighted his commitment to a holistic approach for reducing climate and disaster risks. He stressed the importance of building resilience through better planning and increased investment in climate-resilient development, ensuring that the local government can understand risks and take effective actions to protect the community.
