Call for Proposal (Masters Thesis Research Grant)-Deadline Extended

About the Research Grant

ISET-Nepal provides research grants to students from different universities on a competitive basis to enhance the young researchers’ skills and capacity and help them produce good quality research. These grants are provided to Master’s level students based on the quality of their proposals. Proposals would be evaluated on the basis of research quality: research relevance, clarity in methodology, practicability, and scientific/social importance.

Thematic Areas

·         Disaster risk reduction/management (focused on urban disaster)

·         Climate-induced disaster

·         Traditional knowledge in disaster management

·         GESI and DRR/M

Eligibility

  • Students must have cleared the first year of a Master’s degree in any discipline
  • Should be students studying at Nepali University
  • Should possess Nepali citizenship
  • The proposed research site should be within Nepal (Changunarayan area of Bhaktapur would receive preference)

Grant Information

The grant would be provided in three installments.

  • 40% after the approval of the proposal and research plan
  • 30% after completion of field visit and submission of the draft report
  • 30% after presentation and submission of the thesis

Proposal Guideline

The proposal should be no more than 8-10 pages and should be in Times New Roman font with single spacing and font size of 12. It should include the following information:

  • Introduction
    • Background
  • Literature Review
  • Problem Statement
  • Research Questions
    • Hypothesis/hypotheses
  • Project-General and Specific Objectives
  • Research Methodology
    • Site Description
    • Data collection methods
    • Statistical Analyses (if any)
    • Models to be used (if any)
  • Expected Results
  • Timeline
  • Budget breakdown along with justification on the use of budget
  • References

Other Official Documents to be submitted

  • Curriculum vitae (CV) of the student with detailed contact address and phone number
  • An official approval letter of Head of Department(HoD) or Supervisor from respective department or college with a valid authorized signature
  • Digital copy of student’s identity card

Research Documents to be submitted as Final Product

  • Submission of detailed research proposal
  • Submission of the final thesis ( 1 Copy)
