Road Safety Risk Reduction and its Resilience Program in Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur

Recently, Changunarayan Municipality in Bhaktapur has been facing not only natural disasters but also a growing number of human-induced incidents, particularly road accidents. These accidents have increasingly threatened the safety, lives, and property of local residents, creating an urgent need for preventive measures. Responding to this situation, the Chairpersons of Ward No. 2 and Ward No. 6 requested support to strengthen road safety and protect the community from further harm.

In response, traffic signs were installed along several high-risk sections of the Telkot–Bhattedanda Road (Hariguru Route), Duwakot main road, an area known for frequent accidents due to its terrain and growing traffic pressure. This initiative was made possible through the coordination of Changunarayan Municipality, Ward No. 6, the Institute for Social and Environmental Transition–Nepal (ISET-Nepal), and DCA Nepal. By improving visibility and providing clear guidance to drivers, these safety measures aim to reduce road accidents and help safeguard the lives and property of the people who rely on this important route every day.
