Preparing communities, local businesses, and authorities to respond quickly and effectively to disasters is key to saving lives. With this goal in mind, we organized the “Building Community Awareness and Mobilisation” programme on 12 March 2025 in Duwakot, Changunarayan Municipality. The event helped residents understand the types of hazards they face and how these risks are increasing as the area continues to grow and urbanize.
To support this effort, the Institute for Social and Environmental Transition–Nepal (ISET-Nepal), with financial support from DCA Nepal, is working closely with Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), Community-Based Disaster Management Committees (CDMCs), and Tole-Led Organisations (TLOs). Through participatory assessments, these groups are learning to identify risks, understand community vulnerabilities, and create action plans that strengthen preparedness in high-risk neighborhoods. The programme encourages community-driven solutions, strengthens local institutions, and ensures that people from all backgrounds have a voice in building a safer and more resilient community.
