Provision of an Authoritative Overviews Assessment of the Occurrence and Status of Groundwater Resources in the Indo-Gangetic Basin (IGB)

The overall objective of this study was to provide an authoritative overview assessment of the occurrence and status of groundwater resources in the Indo-Gangetic Basin and to strengthen the evidence base linking groundwater, climate population and abstraction –collating and systemising existing data for policy and national planning and future research programme. ISET-Nepal was involved in framing typologies and approaches to develop scientific overview of the occurrence and status of groundwater resources in Nepal and their overall contribution to groundwater resources in the Indo-Gangetic Basin. Furthermore, ISET-Nepal also undertake case study examining groundwater (spring) availability, use and storage in the Himalayan mountains. This will be undertaken in two VDCs along transect in Nepal’s western region.
