A two-day workshop on integrating DRR and CCA into local development planning was organized by the ISET-Nepal in collaboration with Chagunarayan Municipality on June 28-29, 2024, at Nagarkot, through the Nexus Project. The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of local government elected representatives and officials to mainstream the DRR and CCA in local planning.
The workshop discussed understanding risk and resilience in current contexts, reviewed climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction practices in the municipality and elsewhere, identified challenges, and explored potential local solutions to address risks.
In his remarks, the municipality’s mayor expressed his commitment to ensuring an integrated and holistic approach to reducing climate and disaster risks. He emphasized building resilience through increased investment and improved planning for climate-resilient development, helping governments understand risk and take appropriate measures to address climate and disaster risks.
