Himalayan Knowldge Conclave

The Central Department of Environment Science (TU-CDES), Institute for Social and Environmental Transition-Nepal (ISET-Nepal) and Resources Himalaya Foundation (RHF) with support from Ministry of Population and Enviornment and Institute of Science and Technology, Tribhuvan University successfully conducted second GRADUATE CONFERENCE ON ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (GCESD) known as Himalayan Knowledge Conclave on April 04 and 05 2016 at Hotel Himalaya Lalitpur. Supports were also received from different institutes, colleges and universities.

The main objective of the confernece is to develop creative thinkers among the young graduates from Nepali universities to better understand the changing social, political, cultural and economic climate and bring change to the society. In particular young graduates need to play a definitive and creative role in sharing their ideas and findings among their peers and other groups within society. They need to engage with each other and wider society to promote economic development, social welfare and environmental stewardship. The conference brought together Post Masters level graduates who presented their research and reviewed each other’s work.

The first graduate conference was organized on 29-30 March 2015. The Government of Nepal and other organizations working in the field of environment and disaster risk reduction back the conference. The conference aims to develop leadership skills of participating graduates as well as involve them in conference processes. The conference will also provide an opportunity for networking among thematic group members and experts.
