From Research to Capacity, Policy and Action: Enabling Adaptation to Climate Change for Poor Populations in Asia Through Research, Capacity Building and Innovation

The purpose of the this report was to present the results from a strategic gap analysis the Institute for Social and Environmental Transition (ISET) and other members of the Adaptation Study Team. The study identified areas where a strategically targeted research and capacity building programs could support adaptation to climate change. The priority research themes are Migration, Social security mechanisms, Small-scale and subsistence fishers and upland farmers, strengthening resilience to health related impacts and governance of adaptation across scales. The analysis recognised adaptation as inextricably bound to multifarious economic, environmental and political stresses, social vulnerabilities and differentiated adaptive capacities of people.
