People led solutions for better accountability practices (PELSAP)

This project aims to give voice to the disaster prone vulnerable communities while ensuring duty bearers are promoting and practicing good governance in the areas of disaster preparedness and risk reduction management by forming Citizen’s Alliance. Establishing rule of law through legitimate institutions in Nepal can result in the establishment of transparency and accountability in all levels of governance. This in turn supports the meaningful representation and participation of communities, including that of women and vulnerable groups in disaster management. This unique initiative brings together financial and technical assistance for supporting good governance in Nepal. It is in line with the government’s desire to have bigger programs against fragmented small ones. The project primarily aims to support state/government institutions, national and international NGOs, and other partners to address governance challenges that have been observed in Nepal. The study is based on the principle of good governance and is developed considering social inclusion, bottom up approach, women empowerment, and policy advocacy aspects of participatory development approach for DRR preparedness. Funded by Government Facility (GF), four partner organizations including ISET-Nepal are working for this program under ActionAid leadership.
