The 7.8 Mw Gorkha Earthquake, that shook central Nepal in April 2015, damaged the electricity distribution infrastructures managed by Community Rural Electricity Entities (CREEs). The earthquake disrupted electricity supplies to homes, health and police posts, government offices and local grain
mills for several weeks. During late 2015, researchers from ISET-Nepal and National Association of Community Electricity Users-Nepal (NACEUN) visited 26 such CREEs in Gorkha, Dhading, Kavrepalanchowk and Lalitpur districts that served around 28,570 households. The objective was to perform a detailed assessment of the damages done to electrical infrastructure and the functioning of the electrical services. This assessment was part of a reconstruction and recovery project
