  • Conference on public policy and governance in South Asia

    ISET- Nepal’s researchers participated in the conference on “Public policy and governance in South Asia: Towards justice and prosperity “on 28th June to 29th June, 2018 at Nepal Administrative Staff College (NASC). This conference was organized by Nepal Administrative Staff College ,ISET- Nepal , Niti foundation ,  SIAS – Nepal , IPE and BGD .  The conference was being envisioned as an annual gathering of interested scholars, academics, and practitioners in the field of public policy and governance in South Asia.  The  conference were:  to discuss and share practices as well as experiences of public policy and governance,  to promote culture of evidence-based public policy making and identify issues and opportunities in public policy process in the region and strengthen the synergy and networking of institutions working in public policy and governance.  ISET – Nepal Senior Research Faculty member Ashutosh Shukla presented research paper on tittle “Policy deficit in catalyzing transformative changes in Nepal’s post Gorkha earthquake”.  ISET- Nepal’s Research Officer Rabi Wenju also presented research paper on tittle “Climate Change governance in Nepal”.

    Four members from ISET- Nepal including Chairperson of ISET- Nepal  Kamal Raj Pandey, Executive Director Ajay Dixit ,Executive Member Shova Hamal Basnet and Chief Operating Officer Jayendra Rimal participated in a regional meeting of South Asian Tink Tank on 5th -7th February 2018 which was held in Bangladesh organized by Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) Bangladesh. The three-day meeting was based on sustainability of Tink Tank. Different Tink Tanks from South Asian including two Tink Tanks from Myanmar participated to Panel discussion and group discussion.

  • Participation in Workshop on Excellence in Change and Impact Evaluation

    Kanchan Mani Dixit participated in Training Workshop on Excellence in Change and Impact Evaluation organized at Bangkok by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SPDI), Islamabad, Pakistan. The workshop was held from 18-20 July 2017. The training shared differnet components of Monitoring and Evaluation particularly focusing on Accountablity and Learning (MEAL). Different Think Tanks of South Asia participated in the training who shared their experinces on research methodologies and monitoring & evaluation. The workshop was supported by Thank Tank Initiative.

    About the research grant

    ISET-Nepal has been providing research grant to Masters level students from different universities, since 2009, to enhance skills and capacity of the young researchers as well as help them produce high quality research outputs. Proposals are selected on the quality of the proposals submitted. Proposals are evaluated on the basis of research quality: research relevance, clarity in methodology, practicability and scientific/social importance.

  • Conference on Safe Infrastructures for Resilient Communities in Nepal

    ISET-Nepal, ETH Zürich, IIT Bombay, and NSET collaborated to organize a scientific conference on Safe Infrastructures for Resilient Communities in Nepal on 23rd and 24th October 2016 at Himalaya Hotel, Lalitpur. Research findings on the behavior of civil infrastructure systems after the 2015 Gorkha earthquake was presented along with the presentations from NSET and ISET-Nepal.  ISET-Nepal shared the findings of its post-earthquake projects.   • Book Release

    ISET-Nepal in partnership with ActionAid Nepal, Practical Action Nepal and Shikshak Magazine has published a book entitled "Nepalma Bipad" (Disasters in Nepal). The book is being public on 5th July 2016 at Hotel Shankar, Lazimpat. The program will include introduction of the receipents of Abiskar Fellowship initiated by ISET-Nepal this year and a panel discussion on Disaster Management. The panelist are: Professor Dr. Abhi Subedi, Dr. Hiramani Ghimire, Yemuna Ghale, and Arpita Nepal.

  • Interaction Program

    ISET-Nepal in collaboration with the Solidarity UNESCO Nepal organized an interaction program with the local people of Pokhari Narayansthan VDC, of Timal region, Kavre on 14th June 2016.  The program explored problems of Timal Region. Local farmer, women group, business person and other concerned stakeholders participated in the program. Local people identified drinking water scarcity arising from depletion of water shortages as the major problem and identified options to address the problem.

  • AidData Summer Fellow

    ISET-Nepal is pleased to host Mr. Paul Ryan, student at the University of Texas, Austin as AidData Summer Fellow for this year (2016). Mr. Ryan, on behalf of AidData, mentors ISET-Nepal researchers on GIS use and incorporate geocoding in their research. He will also assist in developing blog article with scenario maps.

  • Himalayan Knowldge Conclave

    The Central Department of Environment Science (TU-CDES), Institute for Social and Environmental Transition-Nepal (ISET-Nepal) and Resources Himalaya Foundation (RHF) with support from Ministry of Population and Enviornment and Institute of Science and Technology, Tribhuvan University successfully conducted second GRADUATE CONFERENCE ON ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (GCESD) known as Himalayan Knowledge Conclave on April 04 and 05 2016 at Hotel Himalaya Lalitpur. Supports were also received from different institutes, colleges and universities.

  • Training and Interaction on System as Gateway to Services in Peri-Urban Area

    ISET-Nepal organised training workshop to enumerators on system as gateway to services on March 27, 2012 in ISET-Nepal office. The purpose of this training was to orient the enumerators on data collection related to peri-urban food security in identified VDCs and municipalities (Tokha VDC, Ramkot VDC, Sankhu VDC, Kirtipur Municipality, Lubhu VDC and Madhyapur Thimi Municipality).

  • Immersion Course II : Climate Change Adaptation

    ISET-Nepal conducted a three day immersion course on Climate Change and Development at Pokhara. The participants were from 16 districts of Gandak Transect . In total 22 teachers have participated on that programme.

  • Training Seminar in Biratnagar and Bharatpur

    ISET-Nepal researchers Mr. Kanchan Mani Dixit and Mr. Kamal Thapa completed two training seminars, one in each of two regional offices in Biratnagar on June 25-26, 2011 and Bharatpur on June 29-30,2011  for the staff of Nepal Water for Health, a national NGO which works with rural communities to help them built drinking water and sanitation systems.

    ISET-Nepal conducted a two day immersion course on climate change adaption at Kathmandu. The course aimed to generate awareness among the teachers of local government schools about the effect of climate on different systems surrounding them as well as to the lives of people. The two day training course also assesses the possible adaptation strategies at the local level.
